During my recent holiday in Devon I spent a wonderful day at the utterly enchanting coastal village of Clovelly. I had it on my list of places to visit after watching the beautiful 2018 film - 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society' which was mostly filmed in Clovelly, Devon rather than Guernsey. • This place has it all … chocolate box beauty, and so much fascinating history to learn about (theres a great introductory film about the place you can watch, and a recreated house/museum. Charles Kingsley, author of ‘The Water Babies’ lived here as a child for a while.) There’s a few shops to peruse (including a very yummy smelling soap shop!), some great food to be had (I had an amazing seafood salad and discovered a great new no alcohol beer I’d not had before which is rare thing to find as I’ve tried a lot!). Plus there’s some lush, peaceful walks in nature to be had in the surrounding area, as well as discover the kitchen gardens. This place really is ace 😍 • I cannot recommend a visit enough, although I understand it gets very busy in peak season, so was very glad to go in October.
