Here's what you can do about them. Your best option is a call blocking app. An app can stop scam calls before they get to you, silence calls from unknown numbers, or send suspicious calls straight to your voicemail. Some call blocking apps are free, some are not. • Search your online app store and read the reviews. Also ask your carrier about call blocking services. • You can also check your phone settings to find features like the do not disturb setting. Call blocking won't catch every unwanted call. Report unwanted calls to the FTC. Tell us the number on your caller ID, and any number you're told to call back. It is the only federal agency with both consumer protection and competition jurisdiction in broad sectors of the economy. The FTC pursues vigorous and effective law enforcement; advances consumers' interests by sharing its expertise with federal and state legislatures and U.S. and international government agencies; develops policy and research tools through hearings, workshops, and conferences; and creates practical and plain-language educational programs for consumers and businesses in a global marketplace with constantly changing technologies. • Comment Moderation Policy • We welcome your comments and thoughts about the information on this page.
