This video shows an example of how to use reversing loops on a digitally-controlled model railroad. • I start with a very basic track layout in a loop around my living room. Then I show how adding one reverse loop allows you to easily get the train to travel in the opposite direction around the loop. • Then, by adding a second reversing loop to the layout, you'll see an easy way to add total flexibility in the direction of travel. • Without taking some special precautions, creating a reversing loop on a two-rail model railroad layout would create an electrical short circuit. Using a $30 gizmo from the Model Rectifier Corporation called a Reversing Loop Module, it's possible to create a reverse loop without causing problems with your train's power supply. • You also need to electrically isolate the loop from the mainline by using two short LGB insulated track sections. (LGB part number 11152) Those insulated track sections are the key to isolating the loop electrically from the mainline. • This is really part two of an instructional series on reversing loops.
