If you do it wrong, you could jeopardize your livelihood as an optometrist. • As students, we get an introduction within a school course and then some hands-on work during clinic. Yet every situation is unique; rules and regulations that make you want to just throw in the towel seem to pop up everywhere. • We recognize the need to improve understanding in this area, so we interviewed Richard Soden O.D., executive director of the University Eye Center and Vice President for Clinical Affairs at SUNY Optometry. Not only is Dr. Soden an expert on coding and billing, he is responsible for basically running the four clinic floors at SUNY Optometry.
