Located on Taschereau Blvd near Rue Authier in Brossard, Quebec! • https://maps.app.goo.gl/C4ZDWYRh57ktX... • • I really love these midblock signals, because they have shaped lenses! Each horizontal signal has 2 square red lights at each end, 1 diamond yellow light, and a ball or arrow for green indications! • These signals will only change if the button is pushed. If the button is held down for 5 seconds, it will activate the audible pedestrian signals next time the walk interval is displayed. • What I find interesting about these signals, is that the audible pedestrian signals have the cuckoo and the Canadian Melody sound all at the same time! • Since these signals are midblock, there are no pedestrian signals to cross perpendicular from the crosswalk. This means pedestrians technically have the right of way to cross in all directions at the same time during the pedestrian phase! • Since this is a huge major thoroughfare for drivers and public transit, I liked how long the cycle length is here. From what I saw, the signals are coordinated for traffic flow in one direction. The bare minimum green time for drivers and public transit here, is at least 75 seconds if not 90-120 seconds range. • In order to coordinate these midblock signals for both directions of traffic flow at the same time, they should have the pedestrian phase activate to cross one direction of traffic at a time.
