Dolly's Lament : The reverie Dolly's Lament (by composer Andrew Galli) was inspired by the changes in life that we go through that leave us often physically or emotionally 'broken' and unable to 'stand up'. Sometimes they are unseen (such as depression) and sometimes very visible (a stroke, muscular distrophy, Parkinson's), they leave us in a state of grief as we find we are unable to do the things we used to love. • In this dance adaptation choreographed by Xenie Axamitova (puppet designer), the music is brought to life. Dolly -- a ballerina, finds herself in the difficult position of having broken strings. She wants to move gracefully, however she recognizes that many of her 'strings' are broken, and she struggles with simple gestures and movement. After several attempts, Dolly does stand up and even learns to dance again. • If you would like to perform your own show with a similar puppet, you can find it here: https://www.axamarionettes.com/produc... • About the artists: • Xenie Axamitova is a puppet/marionette designer and maker living in Prague, Czech Republic.
