A popular travel destination in the Berchtesgaden Alps is the KÖNIGSSEE in the Berchtesgadener Land. The romantic mountain lake is 7 kilometers long and 1.2 kilometers wide. The Königssee lies at the foot of the well-known mountain WATZMANN and resembles a fjord. From the harbor in the village of SCHÖNAU, tourists take electric boats across the lake. The ships were initially docked on a peninsula in Königssee. There is a small church and an inn. Then the boats go past a waterfall to the terminus.
