Doi Maach or Doi Katla is a prevalent Bengali classic dish! • We have used frozen Katla fish for video purpose that we get here in the local Bangladeshi shop, but for our daily meal, we prefer to cook the dish with freshly caught Trout fish, Milkfish, or any local carp fish that we get here for our daily meal. • These days, it's hard to get freshly caught fish often, so it's good to shallow fry the fish before simmering in the gravy. • In the olden days, Doi Maach often served on the Bengali lunch menu on special occasions. This recipe was ideal for bulk cooking; the freshly caught fish simmer in an onion, ginger, green chilli and yoghurt or curd gravy. Quick and easy to make yet flavourful.
