Bass management is a fundamental part of every home theater system. Without proper setup, you will either get non optimal bass integration with your speakers and powered subs or you can potentially overdrive and damage your speakers. There are settings for how you route bass to your speakers and subs including an advanced setting called LFE + Main on Denon/Marantz receivers and Extra Bass on Yamaha receivers.
