This is an edited replay of our webinar from May 11 2024 discussing the major lunar standstill of 2024-2025 and upcoming lunar eclipses. • 0:00 Introduction • 0:51 Last Night's Aurora • 2:38 Join the Community Forum • 5:27 Lunar Declination • 7:59 Timeline Tips • 10:55 Max/Min Declination Events • 22:42 Ancient Alignments • 24:15 Chimney Rock Case Study • 35:10 Extremes of Altitude • 39:23 Photographing Lunar Eclipses • 59:10 Lunar Eclipse Planning • 1:06:15 Field of View • 1:08:30 Upcoming Solar Eclipses • 1:11:00 Q A • We cover how to use the times of maximum and minimum declination of the Moon to gain a better sense of when it will rise and set at its northerly or southerly limits. We also discuss some examples of ancient sites that may have been built to align with moonrise at the times of the major lunar standstill. Finally, we cover what this means in terms of photographic opportunities - alignments at the extremes of declination and when you can find the Moon at its extremes of altitude. • We also discuss considerations when photographing lunar eclipses and examine a number of potential locations for the March 2025 total lunar eclipse. • Links: • https://support.photoephemeris.com/hc... • https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/v... • https://www.historicenvironment.scot/... • https://www.chimneyrockco.org/puebloa... • http://npshistory.com/publications/us... • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_s... • https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEsaros... • https://photoephemeris.com/tools/fov
