1989 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer 4.0L I6 Renix AW4 NP231 • This video goes over all the specific steps to install an Eaton E-Locker into a High Pinion, Reverse Cut, Dana 30 front axle. I will go over the entire wiring process in the next video. • For those who wish to do this at home, it is possible, but there are A LOT of little details and adjustments to be made if you want to do the job right. It's a lot more than just swapping a carrier and bolting it back down. You need to make sure you still have a good contact pattern when you put the gears back together or they won't last long. • If you want to save yourself some frustration, look up the Carrier Split of your Locker/Carrier so that your gears will work with your Carrier. This particular model Carrier Split is 3.73 and Up so this will not work with 3.55 and down ratios. • Read this article to learn all the important bits about setting up Ring and Pinion gears: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/jeep-h... • I also set up a new 4.56 Gear set at the same time here: • 89 Cherokee Dana 30 4.56 Ring and Pin... • A Central Axle Disconnect delete was necessary for the locker to be useful. Later models won't have to worry about this: • 89 Cherokee Dana 30 CAD Delete • The Eaton E-Locker does not use stock Carrier Bearings or Shims so be aware of that when buying rebuild kits. Special Hardware needed: • 2 Timken LM102949 Bearings. (Buy 4 and use the other 2 as setup bearings) • 2 Timken LM102911 Races • 1 Dana 44 Shim Pack • Stock Parts needed: • 10 Ring Gear Bolts (The old bolts should not be reused, LocTite recommend) • Dana 30 Diff Cover Gasket (Recommended) or Black/Green RTV • 1-1/4 Quarts of 75w90 Gear Oil.
