I knew I was down to do the album as soon as I heard the demos - the music rules! It's kind of a classic death metal vibe, mixed with a bit more of a modern tech death kinda thing (with a slightly more modern production overall). This video is instrumental, but the actual album has vocals, so make sure to check it out! • The album was written in Shanghai, engineered/mixed in Germany by Christoph Brandes. The drums were tracked here at my home studio. However, this play-thru is not the actual album-take. I re-recorded it after the fact to make a video. I've mentioned this before, but I've taken to not recording video when I'm tracking for a full album. Instead, I prefer to just focus purely on the audio, achieving the best sounds that I possibly can. Then, later on, if there's anything I want to record a drum vid for, I just re-rehearse/re-record those songs. • When I'm doing session work from home, I'm also acting as the audio engineer for the entire session, which is a lot of work, a lot of stuff to keep track of. So it just makes more sense to focus purely on audio, worry about video later. Regardless, the album version was performed almost identically to this (Lol!). However, this drum play-thru was mixed by good-buddy Declan White (as usual!). • This was also recorded a while ago now... unfortunately, I tracked it right before I upgraded to 4K cameras. So this one's in 1080p (sorry, ya'll!). I have a few other 1080p videos to upload, but after that, all my future stuff will always be in 4K! • Before I list out all the nerdy kit specs, here're a few words from the band that they asked me to include in the video description: • T-Minus Zero is the first track of PANACEA's upcoming debut album written in Shanghai, and engineered in Germany by Christoph Brandes (Necrophagist – Epitaph) centering around themes of leaving earth, starting afresh and dominating the cosmos! PANACEA merge classical Death Metal elements while offering a modern twist in production, catchy hooks, soaring lead guitar work and, ahem, equally as brutal drumming! • KIT SPECS! • #TAMA Star Maple • 10x7.5 • 12x.8 • 14x12 • 16x14 • 20x16 • 14x7 Cusworth Cast Bronze Snare • #MEINL Cymbals (from left to right, if sitting behind the kit) • 18 CC Dark Heavy China • 18 PureAlloy Custom Med/Thin • 15 Byzance Traditional Med Hats • 12 CC Dual Trash Splash • 10 MB20 Rock Splash • 13 Byzance Traditional Med Hats • 19 PureAlloy Custom Med/Thin • 18 Pure Alloy China • 22 Byzance Heavy Hammered Ride • 18 Thomas Lang Super-Stack • #EVANS Drumheads • Toms - Clear G2s (batter), Clear G1s (reso) • Snare - Coated UV2 (batter), Snare Side 300 (reso) • Kick - Clear EQ4s (batter), Smooth White Tama Logo w/ Port (reso) • Website: https://www.alexrudinger.com • / alexrudinger • / alexrudingerofficial • / rudirudinger • / alexrudinger • Lastly, a quick update for anyone who cares! These last 6 months have been one of the busier times in my life. After some huge ( unexpected) life changes, I had to move back to my mom's place (on literally a day's notice)... basically all of my future plans changed overnight, since then I've just been trying to pick up the pieces. To keep myself busy, I started barbering school. I've been at it 4 months now, actually. Long-term goal is still to find a new gig head back on the road full-time. But I figured, hey, I'm saving money living back at home, I have newfound free time... Plus, I desperately wanted to keep busy distracted in recent months, so learning an all new skill set (like barbering) sounded like a good plan. it has been! However, it's got me commuting to DC 4 days a week, trying to juggle that, the school itself, my usual music work... it's been a lot. But I think it will all pay off eventually. Hopefully I'll be back on the road before too long, will be able to cut hair for additional income whenever I'm home! • That's the plan, at least! Figured I'd give a lil' update, just cuz. I doubt most of ya'll will read this far, but some of ya might. I did talk a bit about this already on Insta, but in case some of you don't follow me there, now ya know! • I have several other videos on deck; bunch of stuff that's totally done, just haven't gotten approval for upload yet. But pretty soon here, I'll be posting more regularly again. • Anyway, I hope you all enjoy. As always, thanks for watching, much love!
