We all have them: the words that were spoken to us once and have stayed with us ever since. The sentence that jolted us into a new way of thinking, or out of a bad habit. The people that changed us forever whether they intended to or not. By marrying the research of Chip and Dan Heath, authors of the bestselling The Power of Moments with the lived experiences of real people in our community, I want to share impactful stories of how and when people’s lives have been unintentionally changed. I’ve been on the other side of the stage for three years just waiting for the right idea to hit me. Having completely changed the trajectory of my own life just in the past year (moved away, started a new job, experienced a few significantly insignificant “moments” myself, changed jobs, moved back…), I became curious what these moments looked like for other people. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
