STS-2 Mission (40th Anniversary) • Crew: Joe Engle (CDR) Dick Truly (PLT) • A video containing as much video and photographs available showing the STS-2 mission from November 12-14 1981. • Columbia is shown being flown back from EAFB after landing there at the end of the STS-1 mission in April 1981. After landing back at KSC, the orbiter undergoes refurbishment in the Shuttle Processing Facility and is then transferred to the VAB for mating to the SRBs/ET and then rolled out to Pad 39A. • The original launch attempt on November 4th is followed by some archival material showing the press conference at KSC and the return of the crew to KSC a few days before the second launch attempt. • Coverage of the launch includes several TV sources and raw footage. Launch audio includes the PAO, along with MCC-Houston and chase plane. • Various sources are used during the launch sequence, including the cockpit camera. • KSP is used where real-time or film is not available. • I have included many of the 800+ pictures the crew took of the earth. • On orbit sequences are from the TV downlink and KSP. Pictures are added when appropriate. • Landing sequences include KSP and X-Plane 11 simulations. The actual landing footage draws on the chase plane footage and TV sources. • Audio for the video is taken from TV sources, documentaries and the mission highlights tape of STS-2. • All audio/film/video and pictures courtesy NASA • Huge thanks to Jeff ray, Mark Kirkman for advice and to Steve Taylor for his help with the KSP MODS and set up. • This project took 3 months to put together and is the best and complete record I could produce of the STS-2 mission. • If you wish to join the patron and support my work please use https://www.patreon.com/user?u=54979908 - thank you for any support! • Dedicated to the second crew of Columbia, Joe and Dick, Godspeed.
