Education Law requires select individuals, when applying initially for licensure, certification, or a limited permit, to provide documentation of having completed two hours of coursework or training regarding the identification and reporting of child abuse and maltreatment. This is a one-time requirement and once taken does not need to be completed again. • Learners will receive the most current information about child abuse in New York and the nation. Topics include the history of child abuse, types and indicators of abuse, information about those mandated to report, and the specific responsibilities for reporting. The New York State curriculum, which was developed by the Office of Children and Family Services, was used to develop the content. The experiences of two case worker experts were used to provide real examples of children who had experienced abuse at the hand of a parent or guardian. • Are you required to take this course?
