The novel María written by Jorge Isaacs tells the story of a romance between the author and his cousin María, set in the El Paraíso hacienda in Valle del Cauca, Colombia. The detailed description of the landscapes in the novel aroused the interest of the Japanese, who became the first Japanese immigrants to Colombia in the 1920s. These immigrants settled in Valle del Cauca and formed an agricultural colony called El Jagual. Many of them then searched for better farmland in the region and their contribution was instrumental in agricultural development. In addition, they established the first school for Tractor Drivers in Colombia. Currently, the descendants of these Japanese immigrants live in various cities in Valle del Cauca and continue to work in agriculture, contributing to the growth and improvement of the sector in the region. • ✔ VIDEO CHAPTERS • 0:00 introduction • 0:35 first feature film of Colombian cinema • 1:01 entrance fees to the hacienda • 1:38 Story of the novel • 4:24 giant saman tree • 6:00 tour and history of the hacienda house • 7:23 Lovers Stone • 8:19 fun facts about hacienda el paraíso • 9:19 tomb of Mary • SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL: • / @hectorfarago • FOLLOW ME: • / hectorfarago • / hectorfarago • CONTACT ME: • [email protected]
