Paris Metro (Bus, Tram etc) has cool interactive SUBWAY METRO SCREENS! Toss those apps...this gets ya from A to B easily, gives a pop-up itinerary, estimates area highlights on hi-rez screen. ALSO! Here's your HANDY PARIS SURVIVAL GUIDE • Getting around Paris via Metro is fun, inexpensive and efficient. FINDING the Metro: look for the Art deco RED signs fronting most stations. Many stations are but a few minutes walk apart. • Many Metro ticket booth personnel speak English! The ticket machines are in multiple languages and buying tickets is a snap. • Slip your ticket into the turnstile slot (right hand side; hip level) but KEEP YOUR ticket as Paris has the occasional 'control', ..folks who ensure you have a ticket! • DOORS: On some lines you need to either push in the GREEN BUTTON, or lift the silver latch upwards to open and enter the doors. This is disappearing as more and more train doors are AUTOMATIC. • LONG HONK: In the train or on the platform you'll hear a long'ish blaring sound which means the doors are about to close. DON'T RUSH TO MAKE THE TRAIN. The next is a few minutes away! And, besides, you're on vacation darn it! • HANDICAPPED METRO ACCESS: Hmmmm, I'll skip this section as while I love Paris, there is GREAT room for improvement here! The Buses, however have wheel chair-accessibility etc. • LOST: Everyone gets lost. DON'T PANIC. Find a map, retrace your steps, follow the exit signs and or ask directions. If you're really truly hopeless lost, well, you've a great tale to regale friends with. • THEFT: It's a fact of life. Pickpockets and all that.
