I upgraded last year to Carl Raffle's AluCarriage and Alu-X-Ends, they're awesome but changing the belt is a pain. If your have stock ends, don't worry same principle applies. So this is my technique on belt replacement and tension. • Just as a note, the Aluminium idler kit's bearing failed and the site i purchased them from isn't around anymore. So any suggestions shoot them my way. So for now, a 5mm bearing works fine. • The washer i used is actually a prop washer for a drone. Like the one on the image below, it's tapered on one side. The you don't want the whole side of the pully wearing a groove into your x-end, and this allows for the least amount of contact. • https://tinyurl.com/pdjmc9q • Last tip, make sure you disconnect your stepper motors before doing this. If you move the steppers too fast they WILL generate power and could possibly release the magic blue smoke.
