কে এই এসপি হারুন | Who is SP Mohammad Harun-Ur-Rashid | Biography | Information | • SP Mohammad Harun-Ur-Rashid, who made the headlines for his unprofessional attitude and rights abuses in the course of his service in different postings, has been appointed in-charge of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Tejgaon division. • He will be carrying out his duties there as a deputy commissioner (DC). • The transfer order of five senior officials of the force, including Harun, came through an office order signed by DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam, according to the DMP’s new portal on Tuesday. • Earlier on November 3, 2019, Harun, the then superintendent of police (SP) in Narayanganj district, was removed from his position for allegedly picking up the family of a businessperson from Dhaka. • Harun was accused of picking up Amber Group Chairman Showkat Aziz Russell, his wife Farah Russell and son Anaf Aziz from their Gulshan residence for purposes of extortion on November 1. • Moreover, back in May 2018, Harun, at the time serving as police super of Gazipur district, was accused of working in “favour of a particular political party” by BNP leaders during the Gazipur city election. • He was transferred to DMP in early August of that year. • Later, a few days before the 11th general election in December of the same year, the government appointed Harun as SP of Narayanganj district. • Besides, on July 6, 2011, during his posting in the DMP as additional deputy commissioner, he came into the limelight when he assaulted BNP leader Zainul Abdin Farroque while the party was engaged in protests before parliament. • • Former SP of Narayanganj and Gazipur districts Mohammad Harun-ar-Rashid has again been transferred to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). • He was transferred to the Police Headquarters' training reserve (TR) removing him from Narayanganj on November 3 last year. • Five police officials including a DIG were transferred on Thursday at the directive of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Those police officials also included Harun-ar-Rashid. • DMP Police Commissioner will decide what would be the responsibility of SP Harun in DMP. There are 57 posts of deputy commissioners in the Dhaka metropolitan city. • Harun also served in the DMP earlier.
