The Mercedes CLK Class is a front engine rear wheel drive coupe. The Mercedes CLK 1st Generation is based on the underpinnings of the lower end Mercedes C-Class. The Mercedes CLK 1997 is available in 2 variants 2-door coupe and 2-door convertible. The 1st Generation Mercedes CLK is available in 6 versions CLK 200, CLK 200 Kompressor, CLK 230 Kompressor, CLK 320, CLK 430 and CLK 55 AMG. Production of the 1ST Generation Mercedes CLK lasted for 7 years, the Mercedes CLK was available to purchase in the years 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and the year 2003. The price of the Mercedes CLK was competitive when compared to other cars in the same class. • The exterior of the 1st Generation Mercedes CLK features a fairly restrained and minimalistic design language. The front end houses quad circular headlights, a large rectangular grille with chrome accents and a trapezium air intake. The rear end houses angular side swept taillights and an outward sticking bumper. The exterior on the more sportier versions of the CLK especially the CLK 55 AMG variant includes flared wheel arches, a widened front bumper with a larger air intake a front splitter and a rear diffuser. • The interior of the Mercedes CLK features the use of beige plastic trim pieces. The front and rear seats are covered in leather. Standard features include power and heated door mirrors, automatic climate control, keyless entry, cruise control, 8-speaker stereo audio system, traction control, stability control and electric front seats.
