July 25, 2023 Gorham, NH • Day 150+ of my Appalachian Trail Thru Hike attempt 2023! • My first steps back on trail start at the trailhead in Gorham, NH at 6pm. I have no plans other than to hike until I can't anymore. I hike 12 miles and end up setting up camp at mile 1912.7 around 1am. I'm elated and relieved to be back in the mountains, but I'm feeling alone and vulnerable in a very different environment compared to the trail I left in southern Vermont. • I began my hike on March 10, 2023. I've been experiencing some medical issues that forced me off trail for an extended amount of time. While I'm no longer going to finish the entire trail in 12 months, I hope to hike in the remaining states and achieve my 14 state goal while still leaving time to summit Katahdin before I have to return to my teaching position August 21st. • ~A little about me. I grew up hunting and fishing in the Finger Lakes (NY), was an high school and college athlete, and eventually worked into a career as a Physical Education Teacher. I've spent the last 12 years day hiking, exploring, and adventuring with my Chocolate Lab, Remington. Unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to Remi the day before my hike.
