A fierce supercell hailstorm unleashed thousands of large hailstones onto vehicles driving along the Bruce Highway in Queensland. • Filmed on November 17, Mick Taplin was driving to the Royal Brisbane hospital to visit his mother when a passing hailstorm rained down ice bombs onto their vehicle, cracking the windscreen. • Taplin told Newsflare: On our way to visit my mother in the ICU in Royal Brisbane hospital after she had a procedure that morning to correct a sudden brain aneurysm didn’t go as we had planned. • If the weekend wasn’t horrific enough we drove straight into the epicentre of a supercell storm with large hailstones like ice bombs that battered hundreds of cars on the Bruce Highway, including us in our beloved Lexus sports car. • [We are] still negotiating with the insurance company as many cars were smashed during this storm combined with bush fires have stretched the insurance companies assessors. • This footage is being managed exclusively by Newsflare.
