Barnhart uses some innovative tools in this wind power project. First, there’s the blade bar, a metal frame that’s fully adjustable to a blade’s specs that stabilizes and balances the blade as it is removed. Then there’s the bearing installation and removal device (BIRD), which is the red work platform working around the turbine. The BIRD is remotely operated and has adjustable lift points and two designated spaces for bearings.
