The first verse of this early version read Uz Tita, Staljina, dva junačka sina (With Tito and Stalin, two heroic sons). After the Tito-Stalin split in 1948, Stalin's name was dropped and the first verse was changed to Uz maršala Tita, junačkoga sina (With marshal Tito, a heroic son). • After the war, Tito was the chief architect of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), serving as the prime minister (1944–1963), president (1953–1980; since 1974 president for life), and marshal of Yugoslavia, the highest rank of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). Despite being one of the founders of Cominform, he became the first Cominform member to defy Soviet leadership in 1948. He was the only leader in Joseph Stalin's lifetime to leave the Cominform.
