When the winter conditions are right in Eagles Mere, the local volunteer fire company builds a toboggan slide that travels down Lake Avenue and ends on the frozen ice of Eagles Mere Lake. The toboggan slide has been operating off and on since 1904. This year marks the first time in 11 years that the lake was frozen enough to open the slide. The toboggan slide is open on the weekends for as long as the weather allows.
