A beam splitter

Beam splitters are optical components that are used to split a beam of light into two parts. This simulation shows a simple example of beam splitter, consisting in a slab of refractive material. The index of refraction of the slab is equal to 2. Depending on the relation between index of refraction, thickness of the slab and wavelength, the transmitted and reflected component can have different intensities. • The color hue depends on the wave height (or electric field intensity). • There are absorbing boundary conditions. • Render time: 6 minutes 36 seconds • Compression: crf 18 • Color scheme: Twilight by Bastian Bechtold • https://github.com/bastibe/twilight • Music: Bright Wish by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-... http://incompetech.com/ • See also https://images.math.cnrs.fr/Des-ondes... for more explanations (in French) on a few previous simulations of wave equations. • The simulation solves the wave equation by discretization.
