Learn a technique for ultrasound imaging of the appendix. We will also review the classic ultrasound appearances of appendicitis. • Here are some additional tips courtesy of Andrew Trout, MD: • 1. Push harder (need to displace gas) • 2. You are not done until you have done a sweep of the deep pelvis to look for fluid, inflammation, collections • 3. Change the bladder if you cant find the appendix - if it's full, empty it, if it's empty, let it fill • 4. The bladder can be used for counter pressure - if the caecum or appendix are down in the pelvis, pressure on the left side of the bladder with your left hand can lift them out of the pelvis into the RLQ • 5.
