Dr. Ebraheim’s educational animated video describes the important radiology of the ac joint. • Acromioclavicular joint radiography • Zanca view is obtained by using soft tissue technique in which the voltage is cut into half. • The direction of the x-ray beam: the beam is directed with cephalad of 10 degrees. In case of suspected injury the AP view with weight stress (10-20 lb) can be used. • Clavicular osteolysis can be assessed using the Zanca view. • Osteolysis of the distal end of the clavicle can be caused by repetitive stress such as with weightlifting. The acromion will be normal with the abnormality isolated to the distal clavicle. • MRI will show high signal in the distal clavicle. • Zanca view is also used for diagnosis of arthritis of the AC joint. It will show osteophytes and joint space narrowing. The findings of the x-rays may not represent the patient's real symptoms. • Treatment of osteolysis and arthritis of the clavicle is: • •Physical therapy • •NSAIDs • •Modification of activity • •Injection of the AC joint: Mumford procedure-excision of the distal 1 cm end of the clavicle. • Become a friend on facebook: •   / drebraheim   • Follow me on twitter: • https://twitter.com/#!/DrEbraheim_UTMC
