First Thing in the Morning is from The Solid Sender's (UK) 1978 Virgin debut album Wilko Johnson's Solid Senders. The song was composed by Simon Climie Alan Platt and features Alan on vocals and drums, with John Potter on keyboards, Steve Lewins on bass, Wilko Johnson on guitar and Dave Brooks on saxophone. Both founding members Wilko John were in the legendary band Dr. Feelgood. • I've made this video as a dedication to Alan his wife Liz; plus The Solid Senders. • Sadly Alan past away in 2005 after receiving a serious head injury. • For more info and photos please visit John Potter's site: • http://www.johnpotter-pno.com/ • Sadly Wilko has now died 21st November 2022. • It should be pointed out here that there is currently a Canadian band called The Solid Senders; whereas this was the British Solid Senders who recorded this amazing song. • Personal viewpoint: This song reminds me of the music that has come from the American legend J. J. Cale. Also I used to own the original double vinyl release of this awesome blues-rock-pop album.
