A Quick Review Technics SL1200 MK5 Turntable

Welcome to our transition from Audio Technica into our latest turntable, and my quick review of the Technics SL-1200 MK5. Technics is a Japanese company that has been making these turntables for the last 40 years. The Technics SL-1200 MK5 was released on November 1st, 2002 and has remained the standard for DJ's and audiophiles worldwide. • They're known for their extreme robust build, and long-lasting motor. When the mark II was released in 1979, this was a pivotal change in history for turntables. The upgrades of the mark V include: • 1) Quartz Lock Button • 2) Recessed Power Switch • 3) Oxygen-Free Carbon Fiber Wiring • As a couple of side notes, please excuse my improper verbiage related to my previous LP120 review video. Due to my nervousness, I mis-spoke, and should have explained in a manner of chronological release dates rather than referencing back to my LP120 video. As most people are aware, the Technics SL-1200 is the original godfather of all direct-drive systems and the MKII paved the way for future generations of DJ's, collectors, and audiophiles. • Since this is a Japanese model, I should have included that I also purchased a step down transformer because of region differences in electrical current. Japan uses 100v, and US wall warts use 120v. In light of this regional difference, a step down transformer properly regulates the flow of current so no internal components are damaged long term.
