A few tips to help those struggling with hand passing! • • I generally recommend athletes to stay in an open platform position until they know for sure how they're going to contact the ball. This basically means not bringing your platform together. Some can bring their hands together and stay relaxed/be able to bring them apart quickly which is also a great skill to have in general and practice switching once better identified. Others get handcuffed easily. • • Being able to identify early where the ball will be going will give you the advantage of being able to choose which pass early and having a strong direction step to get there and position yourself well. A lot of athletes lack this direction step and tracking abilities which put them in a poor position to pass the ball. We can train tracking with catching drills paired with the movements, and being able to catch it in the hand pass position also helps with accurate hand contacts. • • Tracking with the forehead is a great cue for those struggling to get enough height or distance on their hand pass. Sometimes athletes hand pass at their chest which will reduce the height and not be a quality pass. Being able to track the ball well so that if it were to land on your forehead it would be a great pass is a great way to put yourself in a position to contact the ball and direct it well. A lot to it and I have a lot of drills in my feed for these! Hope this helps! • • Keep putting in the work 📈 • • #volleyball #volleyballtraining #volleyballplayer #volleyballlife #volleyballtips #volleyballadvice #volleyballdrill #vball #mizunovolleyball #volleyballscience
