Collarbone (clavicle) fractures are painful and often don't heal well. When they're significantly displaced, it's better to repair them with surgery. At The Stone Clinic in San Francisco, we no longer need to use plates and screws and open incisions to repair collarbone fractures. We are able to do a percutaneous surgical repair through a very small incision. This minimally invasive surgery approach drastically cuts down on recovery time and potential complications from the use of metals and plastics. • • Call The Stone Clinic at +1 (415) 563-3110 for an appointment. Usually from falling off a horse or a bicycle or a car accident or a skiing accident, the clavicle fractures when they're displaced are quite uncomfortable in sometimes don't heal well. And so we believe that when they're significantly displaced, it's better to fix the clavicle. And we no longer need to use plates and screws and open incisions. For many of the clavicle fractures, we see we're able to do our percutaneous repair, putting a screw down this barrel of the clavicle and repairing it through a very small incision. We think that percutaneous repair of the clavicle leads to relatively rapid healing and return to sports. So clavicle fractures are quite painful. They're quite disabling, but they're definitely fixable. Now it's an outpatient repair that permits you now to get back on your bike or on your horse and back in the game relatively rapidly.
