The age of the flapper! • The Black Bottom - became popular in the 1920s, which could be danced solo or as a couple, or, as in this case, in a group. • Waltz - The waltz actually goes back to around 1770, but enjoyed a renewed period of popularity in the 1920's. • Salsa - The salsa originated in New York but has clear influences from Latin America, incorporating dance styles from Cuba, Colombia and Puerto Rico. • The Charleston is named after Charleston, South Carolina. The rhythm craze was started by a broadway show tune called The Charleston. • The Foxtrot - you'll note the smoothness of this dance. Usually danced to big band music. It is similar to the waltz, except in a 4 • 4 time signature.
