One of the most popular and enduring shows CBS had in the 1990s, this drama ran on the network from September 21, 1994 to April 27, 2003 and has been widely syndicated since 1998. The show stars Irish actress Roma Downey as an angel named Monica who is tasked with bringing guidance and messages from God to various people at a crossroads in their lives, under the guidance of Tess, a tough, sarcastic supervisor played by legendary actress-singer Della Reese. By season three, the two were accompanied by Andrew, who was the angel of death (John Dye). There came to be more angels as the series progressed. The season four finale brought all three of the main angels to the People's Republic of China, where Monica and Andrew are tasked with covering a dissident who makes a return visit to the country in search of her daughter and husband, who have gone missing.
