I do not use instant pudding for this recipe. The vanilla pudding made for this recipe consist of milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cornstarch, sugar, and a little bit of salt. I use ripe bananas and cut them into 1/4 inch slices. Unlike most banana pudding recipes, I don't just use vanilla wafers. I also use chessman cookies.
