Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE! Thanks!! • This was my second Manitoba Defensive Pistol League / IDPA match. The last MDPL match I competed in was in Jan 2016. It was a little bit of a challenge to keep the IDPA rules straight in my head as I kept wanting to revert to IPSC. In IDPA, you don't drop your mags but must hang on to them unless your gun goes to slide lock. That is pretty much the only time you can dump the mag on the ground. The only other time would be if you had a malfunction. You also must shoot and reload from cover. In a real scenario, that is what you should be doing so that is how you must shoot in IDPA. I like this shooting discipline a lot. I like the change from IPSC shooting. Both sports, IDPA and IPSC, compliment each other quite nicely. • This match consisted of 6 stages of which two were low light stages where a flashlight had to be used to illuminate the targets. I had a lot of fun shooting this match as it is quite different than IPSC. In IDPA you must engage the targets in the correct tactical sequence - immediate threat first. Usually that means near to far or as you see the targets which could be a far target rather than a close target depending on how the stage is setup. I will be shooting many more MDPL / IDPA matches this year. Next match is 25 March 2017. • For the most part, I shot well but in some cases I should have slowed down and shot more accurately. I only made one true mistake which was on my very first stage. I dumped the mag during the mandatory mag change instead of restowing the ejected mag. I still won the stage because I shot it the fastest and was the most accurate. My vest got in the way a few times as it is too light. Even though I threw the vest back far, the light fabric didn't always clear my pistol or mag pouches. I even had keys in my vest pocket to ad some weight but that didn't help all the time. That caused a few issues with my draw and during reloads (mag changes). I'll have a better vest for the next match. • I'd like thank my sponsor XMetal Targets for their continued support as I expand my competitive shooting from IPSC to include IDPA. XMetal Targets is my main sponsor for the 2017 IPSC Handgun World Shoot XVIII to be held in Chateauroux, France in August. Rekkr Custom Kydex is my holster sponsor as they are producing two custom holsters for me to use during the 2017 World Shoot XVIII. I greatly appreciate Rekkr's support. Check out XMetal Targets and Rekkr Custom Kydex's websites. • XMetal Targets - http://xmetaltargets.com . • Rekkr Custom Kydex - http://rekkrcustomkydex.com . • This was the very first time that I have used my .45 Auto reloads with 230gr Hi-Tek Supercoat bullets in a match. I worked up my final load last week achieving the 175 Power Factor that I wanted. My reloads worked flawlessly in my Sig Sauer 1911 Max. The 230gr Hi-Tek bullets were accurate! It was no surprise that my Sig Sauer 1911 Max Michel performed flawlessly throughout the match. • Music is Hey Now by MK2. Thanks for the great soundtrack.
