AMD 8845HS Memory Upgrade Llama 3 and 33 Performance

When I bought my AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS computer, I was bit surprised that they shipped it with a single 32GB DDR5 4800 MHz memory module. This meant that the memory was running in single-channel, instead of dual-channel. • Now I have installed two memory modules of 48GB DDR5 5600MHz, meaning I have 96GB total running in dual-channel. • You can see a big performance boost with Llama 3 8B, as the total duration went down from 1m19s to 38s, when answering the question What is the meaning of life? . • With 96GB of memory, it is also possible to run bigger model files, like Llama 3.3 70B. At the moment this is quite heavy for the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS, as the total duration was 5m21s.
