Boarding School Syndrome - I'm Not Allowed To Shine/ Succeed • In today's video I talk about the idea that boarding school survivors are taught that they can be good but not too good. I talk about how we were not really allowed to shine and be ourselves. • In this video I explore an aspect which has been coming up in my own life over the past few weeks. And this aspect is that we don't feel we can shine. We don't feel we can really succeed. It was as if we could be good but if we were too good then we got bullied - called a boffin in lessons or a showoff in sports. And my feeling is that this carries on into adult life - we dare not shine and be ourselves. • This is common in all schools I believe, but how it differs with boarding school is that you never get a chance to be yourself. You can't go home at the end of the day and be creative, sporty, brilliant.
