Hydrogen vehicles have similar performance and acceleration capabilities to petrol and diesel cars. They are quick to refuel and can drive similar distances. Energy is stored in compressed hydrogen fuel, rather than a battery, which means that hydrogen-powered cars can drive up to 800 kilometres without refuelling. Hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles convert compressed hydrogen from the fuel tank into electricity that powers the engine of a vehicle. When driven, such cars do not produce greenhouse gases from their tailpipe – the only emission is water vapour. When renewable electricity is used to make the hydrogen, the vehicle can effectively be powered without generating any emissions. At Shell, we believe Hydrogen is a fuel well positioned to contribute to a sustainable energy transition. Current hydrogen dispensers are often based on existing petrol and diesel pumps and have an industrial look and feel, with the refuelling process being described as cumbersome. Shell has worked closely with the BMW Designworks to develop a new hydrogen dispenser design which is not only functional within existing forecourts but enticing to the customer. The design offers innovative elements including an interactive interface and an ergonomic nozzle. http://www.shell.com/energy-and-innov... • Transcript: http://s00.static-shell.com/content/d... • Welcome to Shell’s official YouTube channel.
