In this video, we replace the power steering fluid of an E90 320i and subsequently bleed the system. The fluid is a life time filling, so it does not have a recommended change interval. If the steering has slackness, creaks or has a high resistance, changing the fluid might help. Also, changing the fluid when it smells burnt or is dirty prolongs the power steering pump lifetime. • Before opening the reservoir, the surrounding and the reservoir itself needs to be cleaned thoroughly. On the cap, the required type of oil is engraved. If there is no oil in the reservoir, the pump must not run longer than a very short moment. • Part numbers additional materials: • ➥ ATF only : 2 litres 81229400272 or oil with Dexron II-approval, zB Liqui Moly Top Tec 1100 (Color: red) • ➥ CHF only : 2 litres 83290429576 (Color: green) • ➥ fabric tape • ➠ hose clamp, ranged about 12-20mm • Tools: • ➥ oil pump • ➥ Torx 20 (for air intake) • ➥ slot screwdriver • ➥ SW-10, ratchet • ➥ rag • ➥ canister • Cost of repair: 20-30 EUR • Difficulty: Easy • Was the video helpful to you?
