Englischer Garten (“English Garden”) in Munich is one of the largest urban parks in the world (with an area of 3.7 km2 (1.4 sq mi) (370 ha or 910 acres)). It stretches from the city centre to the northeastern city limits. It was created in 1789 by Sir Benjamin Thompson. Network of paths for joggers and cyclists is 78 km long. With 7,000 spots, the beer garden in the Englische Garten, right by the Chinese Tower, is Munich’s second largest. This distinctive pagoda is 25 meters (approx. 75 feet) high and is based on a design from 1789.
