The Providence/Stoughton Line is one of the commuter-rail lines operated by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). While most trains usually run from Boston South Station to Providence, Rhode Island, some trains run from South Station to Stoughton, Massachusetts during weekday rush-hour periods. • The distance between South Station and Stoughton Station is approximately 18.9 miles (30.4 km) with an average trip between the two stations taking about between 35-45 minutes. All Providence/Stoughton Line trains follow the same route from South Station to Canton Junction Station. At Canton Junction, the Stoughton Branch of the line splits from the rest of the line, and continues to Stoughton for another 4.1 miles (6.59 km). • In this video we're aboard Providence/Stoughton Line Semi-Express Train #914, the 4:30 PM departure from Stoughton to South Station. Stops are Canton Center, Route 128, Back Bay, and South Station. Our train consists of several MBB coaches with an MBB cabcar leading the train. An MPI HSP46 locomotive is pushing the train from the rear. • Video recorded on October 9, 2018 with an Apple iPhone 6S.
