Each 4' x 8' piece of ZIP System® Wall Sheathing requires 52 fasteners. Each fastener must puncture the systems’ water-resistive barrier…that adds up to thousands of holes in a typical house. Overdriven fasteners can puncture the weather barrier overlay around the fastener, creating additional opportunities for water intrusion. In its sales and technical literature, Huber Engineered Woods says that overdriven fasteners aren’t a problem. DuPont put that claim to the test.
