Worker and Kolkhoz Woman - (Рабочий и колхозница) • A Soviet artwork and sometimes propaganda piece that has become an iconic cultural art of the Soviet Union. Commisioned in 1937 for the World's Fair in Paris, created by Vera Mukhina. It features the worker with a hammer and the kolkhoz woman with the sickle, Soviet imagery. The sculpture is the logo for MosFilms, one of the oldest film studios in Europe. Worker and Kolkhoz Woman was restored in 2009 and placed by the entrance of VDNKh Park and Pavillion. Made in the unique Socialist Realism style. Definitely worth seeing this historic artwork when in Moscow, almost like a Soviet time machine.
