Transitions are used to move from one idea to another idea in writing or speaking and can be achieved using transition terms and phrases. These help create “flow” in your paper—melding together facts, opinions, and arguments into a seamless whole and making it much easier for readers to understand its logical development. • One of the most common type of transitions is ADDITIVE TRANSITIONS. The purpose of these kinds of transitions is to connect two or more pieces of information by signaling to the reader that something new is being added--whether that new information is similar to what the author has just described or whether is it something unrelated. • This video discusses some of the mostly commonly used additive transitions in research papers and academic writing and turns them into a catchy song with a mnemonic device anyone can remember: • F-A-N-I-M-A-L-S • Furthermore • Another • Not only...but also • In addition to • Moreover • Additionally • Likewise • Similarly • Enjoy this and many other videos by subscribing to our YouTube channel or by visiting www.wordvice.com/blog.
