Cebu Chinese Ngohiong Recipe • Ingredients • ½ lb ground pork (or ¼ kilo) • 1/2 kl singkamas (jicama/mexican turnip) **julienne cut • **dabong (bamboo shoot) can substitute singkamas • 1 small onion, chopped • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1 tbsp ngohiong powder • 1 tbsp 5 spice powder (double the amount if ngohiong powder isn’t available) • season to taste with salt, pepper, brown sugar and soy sauce • lumpia wrapper • oil • for batter: • 1 cup of flour • ¾ cup water • 1 tbsp tbsp paprika/white pepper • ½ tsp of 5 spice powder • Cooking Procedure: • 1. Put a little bit of oil in the pan • 2. Sauté the onion first since garlic burns faster, then add the garlic • 3. Add the ground pork and cook until slightly brown. • 4. Put the singkamas (**ubod/bamboo shoots) • 5. Add the ngohiong powder, spice powder and season with salt, pepper, honey/brown sugar and soy sauce • 6. Cook for 2-3 minutes • 7. Let it cool while preparing the batter • 8. Fill the lumpia wrapper with the mixture • 9. Deep in the batter mixture • 10. Deep fry until golden brown • 11.
