Wanda, Host of Wanda's Cafe TV show and owner of A'Dorn Studios SAG Franchised Modeling and Talent Agency, holds its first Etiquette/Manners and Beginner Model's graduation in LA after relocating the Studio from San Jose, CA, to Crenshaw Blvd in Los Angeles. This graduation was held at the Bonaventure Hotel, LA. A'Dorn Studios (AS) had new students that had just entered and still in training who graduates later after completing their Etiquette/Manners/Visual Poise and Models Training. It was so beautiful that we added the dynamic little models from Compton! • AS opened in San Jose, 1979, in Wanda's nine room home where she was approved and received her SAG Franchise. She dedicated three rooms for her 'first' office, classroom, models' training room equipped with ramps, makeup training area, and social and dining etiquette training tables. The classes grew so Wanda opened a studio in Fremont, CA. As growth continued, she again relocated to another location in San Jose. • AS models in all three locations, were given the special privilege of choosing to be interviewed by the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency in New York. the largest agency in the country, and they published AS events in their newsletter. AS models have modeled in many events, competed in modeling competitions, did mannequin modeling, tea room modeling, etc. The one area of training that Wanda is most passionate about is the Etiquette, Voice and Diction, and Personality Development for the 'kidz', 'tweens' and 'teens' - as she call them. • Nearing the end of the video, the host introduced my son who came in from college in Arizona to attend the graduation. He later graduated UCLA. Also the Co-Producers of AS Black Model of the Year Pageant flew in from San Jose. • After, again, relocating to the LA studio, great things continued to happen. For instance, Wanda took the opportunity to go and work with the young women in the 'Sybil Brand', Inglewood jail - now closed. When she first went in to the jail, the supervisor said to the young women: Remember, you all better be good cause you heard her last name - it's Dorn . The Superior Court Judge, had just been made Juvenile Judge was Judge Roosevelt Dorn, Wanda's Cousin. • While great works continued to be done there on Crenshaw Blvd., There was an event called RODNEY KING . When the King event broke out, Wanda was at the Burbank Airport waiting to fly out to do a seminar in another city. A newscaster at the airport, covering the beginning of the event interviewed her. Wanda still has the news footage where she said on the news - LIKE THE PHOENIX - LOS ANGELES WILL RISE AGAIN . She was in the other city when she saw the news that her studio was a VICTIM of the King Event --- She LOST the studio at that location! • Several of Wanda's students heard about the King Event, so they with one of the AS teachers went into the building before the fire could get there, and retrieved many items they knew she would want them to save. • http://www.adornstudios.org/ https://wdorn.blogspot.com/
