On surface mount devices this problem can be addressed by reconnection of broken traces or solder joints. However, when we are dealing with a monolithic device, such as Sandisk SD and microSD cards - reconnection is nearly impossible. Sometimes traces can still be repaired as we did in this stunning work - • microsd with worst damage , but if the disconnection is not on the top level of the circuit, then it becomes very difficult. In such cases, we recover data from SD and microSD cards using a traditional chip-off recovery method. Traces corresponding to the NAND protocol on the card get physically wired up to a specialized adapter, which then gives us access to the physical image of the device. Once we obtain the physical image, correct as many bit errors as possible, and remove all data conversion mix elements, we create a logical image. The logical image gives us access to working files.
