The Mugore stones which literary translates into the rocks of the bride are among the greatest but unexplored sites in Uganda, located in Mugore village, Kenshunga Sub County in Kiruhura district. • The formation of the site dates far back to the Chwezi era and has a lot of touching history behind it. Just like the whole of Ankole region and the great lakes region, Mugore village was inhabited by the legendary Bachwezi people who are believed to have possessed supernatural powers that made them to do great things some of which still exist up to today. • #bacweezi #empire #mugore stone sites • So, one day, as the ordinary people on their foot were trekking to their wedding introduction, they encountered a Muchwezi man by the names of Mugasha and he warned them not to use the same route while returning with their bride. Sadly, these people didn't pay attention to Mugasha's warning and so they returned using the same route. • As soon as they reached the area, they suddenly encountered Mugasha while naked as he was bathing at his well called eky'Mugasha which still exists up to today and out of anger, he cursed them to turn into stones something that happened immediately. • This story has been proved right by the shapes in which the stones feature. There are big rocks which resemble a veiled bride, a groom, best man and matron while the other series of rocks behind them stand like an entourage escorting the couple to the function. • The bride rock is believed not to be visible directly in the face which is a common practice among the traditional brides in Ankole. Infact in order to prove this, travellers and neighbours in the area have always tried to see the bride-like stone in the face but in vain. They all have accepted that the stone changes direction. • However, with all this history and myths surrounding its formation, the Mugore stone site remains abandoned by government and local leaders despite being a potential tourist attraction in the area. • Join this channel to get access to perks: • / @nkoremedia • Your now live on Nkore media ..make sure you watch .. subscribe and share • we give you everything from Nkore
