AIX comes with one excellent filesystem that extremely reliable, fast and with many advanced features like grow and shrink ALL JFS filesystems including the root filesystem in seconds. JFS2 has been a major strength for AIX for 2 decades. The original JFS from 1990 was also a large improvement on the classic UNIX filesystems. There are just a handful of commands to create, change and remove JFS2 that you can also find in smit/smitty to make setting up fancy options very simple. • There are three other videos for some features particularly switching on Encryption, which is built in to JFS2. • Inline Snapshot    • AIX in Focus: JFS2 Snapshot   • Encryption    • AIX in Focus: Encrypted Filesystem (a...   • No Log option    • AIX in Focus: JFS2 with No Log option   • Example commands used in the video: • o crfs -v jfs2 -g scratchvg -a size=42G -m /temp -A yes -p rw • o mount /temp • o chfs -a size=+8G /temp • o chfs -a size=-2G / • o chfs -a size=50G • o chfs -m /temp /test3 • o rmfs -r /temp • o df -g • o lsfs • o cat /etc/filesystems • o crfs -v jfs2 -d mylv -m /temp -A yes -p rw • Note: I have retired from IBM but I am still interesting is supporting and helping nmon and njmon users.
